Showdown in Lucknow: India vs England - The Crucial Pre-Match Analysis

This has been a World Cup full of surprises, we have seen many things happening for the first time and many curses being broken. We saw the mighty Aussies at the 10th position briefly, we saw Netherlands and Afghanistan beating giants like South Africa and England, we saw the defending champions England lose 3 matches consecutively, we saw India beating New Zealand in a world cup match after a long 20 years. We have already discussed the Indian team’s fabulous performance in our previous blog and today we will discuss India's upcoming match against the defending champions England.

On 29th October, India will be facing England at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Both the teams are performing almost completely opposite to each other as one of them has been unbeaten so far while the other has lost its last 3 games.
This really has been a World Cup England would want to forget as they were among the favorites but are probably out of the race of semifinals.

Even though England’s game hasn’t been according to expectations, one can’t deny that they are still a very dangerous side and can derail any opponent they face.

Having discussed England, let’s talk about some factors which will play an important role in this match and also what are my personal expectations from team India.

  1. Pitch- Ekana stadium’s pitch faced a lot of criticism during Tata IPL 2023 and therefore new pitches have been installed prior to the World Cup and not a lot of matches have been played on these pitches so how they will behave will definitely affect the performance of both the teams.

  1. Toss- Toss is always a vital part of any match as it directs how the match will proceed.

  1. Team Selection- Team Selection will play a very important role in this match as both the captains and their respective managements don’t have a lot of idea about the pitch and even dew can play some role in the team selection.

Now in the end I just want to add what my expectations are from the ICT, I personally want to see the Indian team bat first as in all the matches we have played so far, we have chased. Batting first in this match will provide a comprehensive analysis for our team and also prepare us for high-pressure games as we might get to bat first in semi-finals and therefore, we have to be prepared for it.

IPL 2021: Is Rishabh Pant the right choice as Delhi Capitals captain

No doubt, Rishabh Pant is extremely talented player but is he the appropriate choice as a captain of a franchise? Rishabh Pant has been an important member of Delhi Capitals and has played the role of wicket-keeper and an explosive batsman pretty well. After the recent injury of Shreyas Iyyer and him removing his name from the tournament, it was a big question for Delhi Capitals that who will lead their team and they chose Rishabh Pant. Delhi capitals is a mixed team which has a perfect combination of youngsters like Prithvi Shaw, Avesh khan as well as highly experienced players like Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith, R. Ashwin and many more. When this news came out that Shreyas will not be participating in this season of IPL,many people expected that the franchise will give the captaincy to a more experienced player. This is a great opportunity for Rishabh Pant and I think that this can have a huge impact on his career. It won’t be easy for him to replace Shreyas Iyyer but I thi...
