Cricket Fever: Highlights from Week 1 of the 2023 ODI World Cup

The 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup is here!!!

So the tournament began with a bang from the Kiwis as they thrashed the defending champions England in the inaugural match. We saw record-breaking batting from the Proteas against Sri Lanka, and we also witnessed chase masterclass from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul against Australia.
Pakistan also beat Netherlands, but they would’ve had expected a better performance from their senior players. Bangladesh started the tournament on a winning note and beat Afghanistan in a one-sided game.
In the next matches, Kiwis warned all other teams of how strong they are as they destroyed the Netherlands Cricket Team. England made a comeback after their humiliating defeat against Kiwis and won their match against Bangladesh.
So, we are all caught up on all the matches. Now let's come to the important highlights which I observed in the first week of the World Cup.

Starting with New Zealand, they were hardly the favorites according to any expert, but they are showing how dangerous they are in an ICC tournament. They are on top of the table so far, although they have played two games but the thing to look at is their net run rate which is really impressive and will come in handy in the later half of the tournament.

Another important highlight was South Africa’s performance, that was some insane batting from their side. Three centuries in a single innings is not something which we see regularly, and I just want to appreciate the intent which they are playing in this World Cup, surely one of the favorites this year.

And of course, we are going to talk about the India vs Australia game, superb performance from Indian bowlers. Australia created some problems in the start of the second innings, but the way Virat Kohli and KL Rahul played under pressure, that just shows you how important experience is in such games.

Their partnership is something which should be watched by youngsters and learn how to plan a chase. Both of them failed to complete well deserved centuries but some innings are beyond milestones, they are classic and these innings from these two were one of them.

Great start and it looks like it's going to be a very exciting World Cup as it is very difficult to predict anything this year. And that’s how the World Cup should be!

IPL 2021: Is Rishabh Pant the right choice as Delhi Capitals captain

No doubt, Rishabh Pant is extremely talented player but is he the appropriate choice as a captain of a franchise? Rishabh Pant has been an important member of Delhi Capitals and has played the role of wicket-keeper and an explosive batsman pretty well. After the recent injury of Shreyas Iyyer and him removing his name from the tournament, it was a big question for Delhi Capitals that who will lead their team and they chose Rishabh Pant. Delhi capitals is a mixed team which has a perfect combination of youngsters like Prithvi Shaw, Avesh khan as well as highly experienced players like Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith, R. Ashwin and many more. When this news came out that Shreyas will not be participating in this season of IPL,many people expected that the franchise will give the captaincy to a more experienced player. This is a great opportunity for Rishabh Pant and I think that this can have a huge impact on his career. It won’t be easy for him to replace Shreyas Iyyer but I thi...

The Indian team has literally destroyed every side they have faced so far in the tournament. They started their campaign against the mighty Aussies and won a mostly one-sided match. Their next game was against Afghanistan and the results were not so surprising. Then came the big match, IND vs PAK; All the fans were really excited for the match and the Indian team didn’t disappoint their fans and thrashed Pakistan. Showdown in Lucknow: India vs England - The Crucial Pre-Match Analysis

This has been a World Cup full of surprises, we have seen many things happening for the first time and many curses being broken. We saw the mighty Aussies at the 10th position briefly, we saw Netherlands and Afghanistan beating giants like South Africa and England, we saw the defending champions England lose 3 matches consecutively, we saw India beating New Zealand in a world cup match after a long 20 years. We have already discussed the Indian team’s fabulous performance in our previous blog and today we will discuss India's upcoming match against the defending champions England. On 29th October, India will be facing England at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Both the teams are performing almost completely opposite to each other as one of them has been unbeaten so far while the other has lost its last 3 games. This really has been a World Cup England would want to forget as they were among the favorites but are probably out of the race of semifinals.  Even though England’s game hasn’t...
