Well, the Asia Cup ended on a pretty splendid note for India, a final match every team dream of. But now the question arises, what do the Indian team and fans expect and work on their World Cup preparations after this Asia Cup.
The Indian Team received almost all the answers they were looking for before this tournament, like the number 4 problem or the form of experienced senior players.
The performance of India’s batting line-up was brilliant throughout the tournament, we saw different players taking on responsibilities in every match.
The top order is in brilliant form; hitman Rohit Sharma scored 3 fifties in the tournament, while King Kohli also scored an outstanding hundred against Pakistan.
The young talents like Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have also proved their worth; with Shubman being the highest run scorer in this tournament (302 runs), Ishan also played an important knock against Pakistan, when the top order failed. Kl Rahul has made a classy comeback, proving that form is temporary, but class is permanent. When we discuss our bowling, it has shown that it is still one of the strongest in the world and can destroy any batting line-up with their skills.
Jasprit Bumrah has made a blistering comeback and looks good, and with Mohd. Siraj performing the way he is, India’s pace attack looks really good, with players like Shardul who is a crucial bowler for us in the middle overs.
Our spin department looks solid as well, with Jadeja and Kuldeep both looking for wickets in the middle overs; not to forget that the World Cup will be played in India, probably the best venue for spinners. Getting such a convincing win prior to the World Cup will definitely play a very important role in boosting the confidence of the Indian team as well as the fans. Overall, our team is shaping up pretty well and we're now easily the favorites for the World Cup. In my last blog, I rated our WC squad 7/10 due to poor form but now I can easily change this rating to 8-9/10. Let’s all hope that this team performs the way it is and finishes the 10-year drought of the ICC trophy for us.
