IND vs AUS ODI: Resting Key Players Before the World Cup: A Risky Move or a Game Changer?

Does resting your three of the most important players right before the World Cup make sense? No, right? Why would you rest your core team just before the commencement of the biggest tournament of the game?

This is a question every Indian cricket fan is asking the management and the BCCI. The team announced for the ongoing ODI series against Australia has been getting criticized by every expert and that’s not wrong at all because the team just doesn’t make sense. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya have been rested for the first two ODI matches but do they really need rest? We will be witnessing the biggest tournament of the game in a few days and when our main players are not in touch, this might affect our performance in the World Cup. That’s not all, it affects our team combination as well; just when it was looking like the Indian team have finally changed gears and are now ready for the World Cup, this series can be a real game changer in the confidence of our team and fans. Trying out young players and giving them a chance is never a bad thing, but we can always select them in the team after the World Cup. Till the World Cup we need our team to play at its full capacity. And it's not any normal opposition but it is Australia who are looking like the favorites of the World Cup and playing them before the big tournament could’ve improved our preparations for the World Cup.

Anyway, we always root for our team and let’s just hope that this young team wins this series in the first two matches itself and shows everyone that even our youngsters are capable of facing a world class team.

No doubt, Rishabh Pant is extremely talented player but is he the appropriate choice as a captain of a franchise? Rishabh Pant has been an important member of Delhi Capitals and has played the role of wicket-keeper and an explosive batsman pretty well. After the recent injury of Shreyas Iyyer and him removing his name from the tournament, it was a big question for Delhi Capitals that who will lead their team and they chose Rishabh Pant. Delhi capitals is a mixed team which has a perfect combination of youngsters like Prithvi Shaw, Avesh khan as well as highly experienced players like Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith, R. Ashwin and many more. When this news came out that Shreyas will not be participating in this season of IPL,many people expected that the franchise will give the captaincy to a more experienced player. This is a great opportunity for Rishabh Pant and I think that this can have a huge impact on his career. It won’t be easy for him to replace Shreyas Iyyer but I thi...
