IPL 2021: The kings are back! Complete analysis of CSK's Comeback

“We’ll come back strong, that’s what we are known for. This has been a tough year”

-MS Dhoni(2020)

Chennai Super Kings which is one of the most successful teams of the Indian Premier League is trying to comeback after their horrendous last season and it looks like the Kings are back. CSK has won their last 5 matches and it seems like we are watching the vintage CSK. The last season of IPL was not a memorable one for CSK as it was for the first time that they did not qualify for the playoffs and ended at seventh position. This year Chennai fans were expecting a strong comeback from their favourite franchise and CSK has not let them down. CSK has played their last 5 games like a boss and won them one sided. All the players have been contributing and are playing like a single unit. With the return of Suresh Raina, CSK’s batting lineup seems to be rock solid.
Both the openers, Faf and Ruturaj are in good form and are giving the team a good start in the last few games. Moeen Ali is proving himself in batting as well as bowling. He is playing with a good strike rate and he has also picked important wickets. The bowlers are doing their part as well; Deepak Chahar is in great form and is looking for wickets from the first ball. Lungi Ngidi has provided the pace which was missing in CSK’s bowling and has been pretty impressive till now. Youngsters like Ruturaj and Sam Curran have shown their talent and have become an important part of the team in a short period of time. Sir Ravindra Jadeja is again showing why he is known as one of the best all rounders in the world by his skillful bowling, aggressive batting and incredible fielding. One of the most important reasons behind this year’s CSK’s performance is good captaincy by MS Dhoni. He has backed his players and used his resources in a nice manner. The skipper has taken some superb decisions on the field which have turned the entire game. So far CSK has been performing like a champion team. Every CSK fan would be wishing that CSK lift their 4th IPL trophy this year.

No doubt, Rishabh Pant is extremely talented player but is he the appropriate choice as a captain of a franchise? Rishabh Pant has been an important member of Delhi Capitals and has played the role of wicket-keeper and an explosive batsman pretty well. After the recent injury of Shreyas Iyyer and him removing his name from the tournament, it was a big question for Delhi Capitals that who will lead their team and they chose Rishabh Pant. Delhi capitals is a mixed team which has a perfect combination of youngsters like Prithvi Shaw, Avesh khan as well as highly experienced players like Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith, R. Ashwin and many more. When this news came out that Shreyas will not be participating in this season of IPL,many people expected that the franchise will give the captaincy to a more experienced player. This is a great opportunity for Rishabh Pant and I think that this can have a huge impact on his career. It won’t be easy for him to replace Shreyas Iyyer but I thi...
